Boutaris was funded in 1879 from John Boutaris.Today  Konstantinos Boutaris is the president of the firm.
Boutaris first achievement was the Boutari Naoussa red wine.One of the first ever bottled wines in Greece back then.After that with the  trust of the market for quality  and respect to nature Boutaris started a long journey of wine making.
In 1935 the son of John Boutaris took over the control bringing a new era to the already well established company.Exports was the main concern of Stelios Boutaris starting from Austria ,Hungary and Egypt.In the afterwar years Boutaris gains a big share in the Greek and international market.The opening of the second winery in Naoussa makes Boutari even stronger that before.
At the end of the sixties Stelios Boutaris sons took over the company, John and Konstantinos.It is the time of a very bad disease of vines Filoxera.Boutaris sons take that as a challenge.They started to extent their wine fields and invest in professional wine experts to be one step in ahead at all times.
In 1967 the Appellation of origin of high quality starts in all Greece.Boutaris was the first wineproducer to make Appellation wines in Greece.The company has now wineries from Goumenissa to Santorini , Paros ,Crete and Nemea.
In the 80s Boutaris company starts to experiment with foreign wine grapes in limited bottling's.The market was thrilled and then the company started producing wines from the Chardonnay ,Cabernet Sauvignon ,Merlot and Sauvignon blanc grapes with great success.
In 1989 Boutaris Group starts to get involved in the drinks market.Back then Boutaris has the rights of Johnnie Walker, Gordons and a lot more of the United Distillers Plc (Today's Diageo)(1989-1993).In 1991 Boutaris Group buys most shares of the Cambas S.A.in Athens.The oldest company of wine and spirits in Greece.In 1992 the Boutaris Group moves on in the beer market by taking over Henninger Hellas S.A. (Today's Mythos S.A.).In 1997 the market was shocked with the first Greek Lager beer, Mythos.
In 1990 the Boutaris Group opens the doors of its wineries to the public.Again a pioneer in the market.First one to open the doors was the Santorini winery.Today all of the wineries are open to the public with tours and a lot of information about the wines.
In 2002 after seeing the potential of the water market Boutaris Group buys the majority of  Kimi Ltd.A natural mineral water production unit in Evia.
In 2006 Boutaris Group focuses on the core business, wine.Sells all shares of Mythos S.A. and buys back all shares from Global Finace to regain 100% control of the company.
A new investment of the Boutaris Group was also the Domaine de Mayrac in France located in Lanquedoc.
